The 383rd meeting of the Committee took place on 8 August 2017. Over 36 Committee Members\/Observers were in attendance in addition to several civil society organizations. The Chair of the Committee (Senegal) provided brief updates on recent Committee activities, including the Committee\u2019s sponsorship of a Palestinian lecturer for the Universidad Complutense summer course entitled \u201cPalestine, Half a Century of Occupation: A Legal, Political and Human Approach\u201d held in Madrid on 3-7 July, and the Committee delegation’s participation in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers 44th Session, convened in Abidjan, on 10-11 July. The Committee’s Rapporteur (Malta) delivered the reports of two recent international meetings, namely the United Nations Forum to Mark Fifty Years of Occupation held on 29-30 June at UNHQ in New York, and the International Conference on the Question of Jerusalem held on 20-21 July in Baku Azerbaijan. The Committee also received a briefing from the Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine regarding the current situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem. The Chair furthermore provided an update on the Committee’s ongoing capacity building programme and urged Members\/Observers to support training opportunities of Palestinian civil servants, particularly in the context of the international conventions the State of Palestine has ratified. The Chair concluded by reminding attendees about the Committee’s upcoming activities, including the 2 November expert-lecture on the occasion of marking seventy years of the Balfour Declaration and this year’s Solidarity Day activities on 29 November.<\/p>\n<\/div>
