Since the start of the ceasefire, UNOPS has delivered close to three million litres of fuel for humanitarian needs in Gaza.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Working against the clock, UNOPS teams have loaded truck after truck to ensure supplies of fuel are reaching Gaza to power the critical operations of the UN and humanitarian organizations \u2013 including hospitals, bakeries, shelters and immediate emergency needs.<\/p>\n

Prior to the ceasefire the bare minimal amount of fuel needed to power only the most critical needs was estimated to be 100,000 litres per day. The current daily volumes represent more than ten-fold increases.<\/p>\n

The scaling up of aid delivery is a significant achievement by all parties. UNOPS, along with the entire UN family, is committed to supporting the implementation of this ceasefire and providing relief alongside humanitarian partners – Jorge Moreira da Silva – UNOPS Executive Director<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThis remains an extremely complex humanitarian operation. There are serious challenges and constraints, not least from the lack of functioning infrastructure, roads and the sheer scale of destruction,” said UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva.<\/p>\n
