This has resulted in increased rates of poverty and food insecurity as well as a lack of socio-economic opportunities.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) are essential to tackling high levels of unemployment \u2013 particularly among youth \u2013 by fostering sustainable and inclusive economic prosperity and social stability.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In support of the Palestinian Ministry of Education and the Municipality of Yatta, KOICA has developed a project for the establishment of the Yatta Vocational School in the Hebron Governorate. UNOPS will support the $5.5 million project through the design and construction of the school and its various facilities, while KOICA will dedicate $1 million to provide the needed capacity building and training for the TVET staff and teachers. The four-year project will advance education and foster inclusive economic and employment opportunities for youth.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We are pleased that UNOPS, through KOICA, will be able to build and equip a vocational school in the West Bank that will serve young Palestinians and provide opportunities for better education and employment&#8221;<\/em> said Sophie Nyirabakwiye, Acting Director of UNOPS in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<footer><\/footer>\n<footer>UNOPS will also procure and install furniture, IT equipment, workshop equipment and heavy machinery for the facility, among other items.<\/footer>\n<footer>\u201cSince 2009, KOICA has been implementing the Programme of Education for Youth with a budget of $33.6 million. We expect that this new Yatta Vocational School will help fulfill the aspirations of Palestinian youth,\u201d said Minjong Kim, KOICA Country Director in Palestine.The facility will feature lecture rooms and a practice building that will be used to provide a range of vocational training programmes.
