Arabic: \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a\u0629<\/a><\/p>\n Chinese: \u4e2d\u6587<\/a><\/p>\n Espa\u00f1ol\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Fran\u00e7ais\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n \u0420\u0443\u0441\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0439\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n THE SECRETARY-GENERAL<\/strong><\/p>\n —<\/strong><\/p>\n MESSAGE TO THE UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL MEDIA SEMINAR ON PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Geneva, 3 November 2022<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n I am pleased to greet the 2022 United Nations International Media Seminar on Peace in the Middle East.<\/p>\n For over three decades, this gathering has served as an important space for fostering dialogue and deepening understanding for peace.<\/p>\n Today, we face an extremely challenging environment of growing violence, escalating tensions, and numerous civilian deaths.<\/p>\n Among those recently killed was veteran Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, whose death was mourned by millions around the world.<\/p>\n I was appalled by her killing and reiterate my call for an independent and transparent investigation for effective accountability.<\/p>\n All attacks against journalists must end.
