authorities in Gaza have curbed vehicular movements again alongside the tighter restrictions overall, including:<\/li>\n<li>Taking legal action\u00a0against COVID-19 patients disobeying self-isolation orders<\/li>\n<li>Imposing a compulsory quarantine\u00a0in designated facilities\u00a0upon travelers\u00a0entering Gaza\u00a0from India and\u00a0Bangladesh, starting from 27 April.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Surveillance<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The WHO risk assessment remains high:\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0infections in the Gaza Strip\u00a0account for\u00a0the majority\u00a0of\u00a0all\u00a0cases in the oPt,\u00a0with\u00a0new cases slowly subsiding, but numbers\u00a0are\u00a0still high\u00a0with\u00a0deaths\u00a0in the last week\u00a0at record levels<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0West Bank,\u00a0new\u00a0infections\u00a0are also\u00a0declining\u00a0slowly, but hospitals are still\u00a0struggling<\/li>\n<li>The breakdown of active COVID-19 cases across the oPt is as follows:\u00a0Gaza Strip\u00a0(63.9%),\u00a0followed by\u00a0the West Bank governorates of Nablus (14.1%), Tulkarm (5.6%),\u00a0Jenin\u00a0(3.9%),\u00a0Ramallah\u00a0(3.7%),\u00a0Hebron\u00a0(3.2%),\u00a0Qalqilya\u00a0(1.5%)\u00a0and Bethlehem\u00a0and Tubas both\u00a0(0.8%)<\/li>\n<li>The overall Case Fatality Rate (CFR)\u00a0across oPt\u00a0remains at\u00a01.1 %.\u00a0The CFR is the proportion of deaths among identified confirmed\u00a0cases<\/li>\n<li>The PA\u00a0MoH\u00a0says\u00a0that 99% of the COVID-19 virus circulating in Palestine is from the\u00a0B.1.1.7 variant\u00a0(first identified in the UK), which is considered 45% more contagious\u00a0than the original\u00a0virus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Laboratory testing and diagnostics<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The number of tests conducted in the oPt has decreased by\u00a021% during the reporting period (16\u00a0&#8211;\u00a029\u00a0April), with\u00a029,819\u00a0tests\u00a0conducted<\/li>\n<li>In the Gaza Strip, an average of\u00a02,494\u00a0tests per day have been conducted over the past week (23 &#8211; 29\u00a0April) with a positivity rate of 30%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Isolation and Case Management, Operations Support and Logistics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0overall occupancy rate of COVID-19 dedicated hospital beds in the\u00a0Gaza Strip is\u00a057%, with 334\u00a0of 587\u00a0beds occupied.\u00a0Currently,\u00a044\u00a0of the\u00a077\u00a0Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds\u00a0(57%) are occupied, with\u00a09\u00a0requiring\u00a0invasive mechanical\u00a0ventilation<\/li>\n<li>The medical response\u00a0situation\u00a0in the West Bank\u00a0remains critical:\u00a0ICU\u00a0bed occupancy\u00a0has risen again to 83% (145\u00a0ICU beds\u00a0occupied,\u00a0with\u00a040\u00a0patients on ventilators).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Maintaining Essential Health staff, doctors and nurses from Gaza\u2019s five main emergency departments are participating in a six-week-long online course on Mass Casualty of AZ vaccines arrived in the oPt through the COVAX facility: 43,200 doses were delivered to the West Bank on 19 April, while Gaza got 28,800\u00a0doses<\/li>\n<li>PA Health Minister Mai\u00a0Alkaileh\u00a0stated on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fswkk-l-t\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Voice of Palestine radio<\/a>\u00a0(20 April) that the\u00a0OPt\u00a0has bought 4.5 million doses of the Pfizer and Sputnik V coronavirus vaccines at a cost of $27.5 million.\u00a0Alkaila\u00a0said the vaccines will arrive \u2018soon\u2019<\/li>\n<li>A donation of 20,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine\u00a0from the Russian Federation\u00a0to the PA\u00a0MoH\u00a0is scheduled to\u00a0arrive\u00a0in the oPt\u00a0on\u00a029 April.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vaccination coverage<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>253,937\u00a0people have been vaccinated in total across the oPt:\u00a0217,441\u00a0in the West Bank, and 36,496\u00a0in Gaza. These figures represent around\u00a05% of the total Palestinian\u00a0population,\u00a0and\u00a08% of those targeted for vaccination, according to the PA\u00a0MoH<\/li>\n<li>Of these numbers, the total who have received their second dose are 164,094 in the oPt\u00a0overall. In the West Bank that number is 138,348;\u00a0and\u00a0in Gaza\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a025,746<\/li>\n<li>Israel completed on 20 April its &#8216;second phase\u2019 of vaccinating\u00a0around\u00a0110,000 Palestinian workers who received their first doses on\u00a07 March (<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fswkk-l-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COGAT.Arabic\u00a0FB<\/a>).\u00a0These\u00a0numbers are included in the total numbers\u00a0of vaccinated\u00a0stated\u00a0above.<\/li>\n<li>A recent study from Public Health England\u00a0shows that\u00a0the\u00a0UK\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0vaccination\u00a0programme\u00a0has prevented\u00a010,400 deaths\u00a0in those aged 60 and older up to the end of March,\u00a0referring to the use of its three approved vaccines including\u00a0AstraZeneca\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-fswkk-l-d\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read
