COVID-19\u00a0outbreak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Coordination,\u202fplanning\u202fand monitoring\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The PA announced on 3 April that the\u00a0<strong>West Bank<\/strong>\u00a0lockdown will continue from Sunday 4 April till 3 May, as follows:<\/li>\n<li>Restaurants, shops, cafes, businesses, companies and ministries can operate at 30%\u00a0capacity<\/li>\n<li>Pharmacies and bakeries to be able to continue to\u00a0operate<\/li>\n<li>No movement between governorates including the city of Jerusalem, except for medical personnel, essential goods and\u00a0food<\/li>\n<li>Governors will decide the exceptions for the opening of any\u00a0sectors<\/li>\n<li>Fines will be issued for breaches of safety\u00a0measures<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Gaza Strip<\/strong>, local authorities updated their restrictive measures, as follows:<\/li>\n<li>Full restriction on vehicular movement in weekends (Fridays and Saturdays),\u00a0and from sunset to 06:00am on weekdays<\/li>\n<li>A complete nightly curfew from 9:00pm\u00a0to\u00a06:00am<\/li>\n<li>Schools, universities, wedding halls, weekly open markets are to remain closed till further notice<\/li>\n<li>Decisive public health measures and strict adherence to hygiene protocols\u00a0and\u00a0physical distancing continue to be essential to reduce the spread of COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The WHO risk assessment remains very high:\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0infections in the Gaza Strip are showing signs of\u00a0reaching a plateau but\u00a0the situation remains\u00a0critical<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0West Bank,\u00a0new\u00a0infections are declining slowly, but\u00a0hospitals are still\u00a0struggling<\/li>\n<li>The breakdown of active COVID-19 cases across the oPt is as follows:\u00a0Gaza Strip\u00a0(63.9%),\u00a0followed by\u00a0the West Bank governorates of Nablus\u00a0(12.5%), Jenin\u00a0(4.9%),\u00a0Tulkarm\u00a0(4.2%), Hebron\u00a0(3.9%), Ramallah\u00a0(3.9%), Qalqilya\u00a0(1.6%)\u00a0and Bethlehem\u00a0(1.4%)<\/li>\n<li>The overall Case Fatality Rate (CFR)\u00a0across oPt\u00a0remains at\u00a01.1 %.\u00a0The CFR is the proportion of deaths among identified confirmed\u00a0cases<\/li>\n<li>On 30 March, health authorities in Gaza confirmed the first cases detected with the new variant\u00a0B.1.1.7 (first identified in the UK).\u00a0This variant is known to have been driving recent cases in the\u00a0West Bank\u00a0as Healthier World<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Minister of Health,\u00a0Dr Mai Al Kaila, and Head of\u00a0WHO in\u00a0the\u00a0oPt, Dr Richard\u00a0Peeperkorn,\u00a0opened the online launch event for the year-long World Health Day campaign for 2021.\u00a0The event highlighted the impacts on health of planning restrictions and demolitions in Area C, as well as severe movement restrictions for Palestinians in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>Dr\u00a0Peeperkorn\u00a0stated \u201cThe effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have been felt differently by different groups in society. Ventilator usage is at 47%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>COVID-19 Vaccination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vaccine delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/i6.createsend1.com\/ei\/j\/AB\/3CA\/3E0\/004639\/csfinal\/GreenTable-15April-9900000000079e3c.PNG\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Latest\u00a0vaccine\u00a0arrivals<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>On 29 March, 100,000 Sinopharm vaccines arrived in West Bank as a donation from China:\u00a090,000 for WB, and 10,000 for Gaza<\/li>\n<li>On 30 March a further 25,000 AstraZeneca vaccines were also delivered to oPt from the Serum Institute of India,<\/li>\n<li>On 13 April, 48,000 doses of AZ purchased bilaterally by the PA\u00a0MoH\u00a0arrived in the\u00a0oPt, the first batch of\u00a0purchased\u00a0vaccines out of a total of 2\u00a0million<\/li>\n<li>On 17 April, an additional 72,000 doses of AZ (WB 43,200 + Gaza 28,800)\u00a0are expected to be delivered from the COVAX facility to the\u00a0oPt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vaccination\u00a0status<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 21 March Palestine kick-started its mass vaccination rollout campaign prioritizing medical staff at government and private hospitals, patients with kidney and cancer conditions, and the\u00a0elderly<\/li>\n<li>As of 14 April, 156,446\u00a0people have been vaccinated in total across the oPt: 121,866\u00a0in the West Bank, and 34,580\u00a0in Gaza. These figures represent around\u00a03%\u00a0of the total Palestinian\u00a0population<\/li>\n<li>Israel continues\u00a0to administer\u00a0the\u00a0second doses\u00a0of vaccinations\u00a0to\u00a0over 100,000 Palestinian workers. They are expected to complete the\u00a0programme\u00a0on 20 April 2021\u00a0(Source \u2013 COGAT\u00a0FB).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Future\u00a0COVAX\u00a0consignments\u00a0(estimates)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A further 144,000 doses of AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccines are due to arrive through COVAX in batches by end of\u00a0June, bringing the total number of AZ vaccines arriving in oPt through COVAX to\u00a0168,000<\/li>\n<li>An additional 102,960 doses of Pfizer vaccines have also been allocated to the oPt through the COVAX mechanism, with expected delivery date end of\u00a0Q2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>What is WHO&#8217;s position on the safety of the Astra-Zeneca COVID-19\u00a0vaccine?\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>On 7 April 2021,\u00a0the WHO&#8217;s\u00a0Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GAVCS), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the UK\u2019s regulator (MHRA)\u00a0issued statements.
