Restrictions\u00a0include the\u00a0following:<\/li>\n<li>No movement between governorates\u00a0in West Bank, except for medical personnel, essential goods and food<\/li>\n<li>Total overnight lockdown continues from 1900 to 0600 nightly (except for pharmacies and bakeries)<\/li>\n<li>All public and private schools closed, except for high schools;\u00a0universities and educational institutes to return to remote\u00a0learning<\/li>\n<li>Restrictions have been eased in Gaza recently, but are now expected\u00a0to\u00a0be reimposed considering the high jump in cases in the last week coupled with the high density of people in the\u00a0area<\/li>\n<li>Decisive public health measures and strict adherence to hygiene protocols and physical distancing continue to be essential to reduce the spread of COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Surveillance<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The WHO risk assessment remains very\u00a0high: despite a slight slowdown in the number of cases in the West Bank, the increase remains significant.\u00a0There has been\u00a0a\u00a0slight 1%\u00a0rise\u00a0in newly recorded cases,\u00a0and\u00a0a\u00a034%\u00a0increase\u00a0in\u00a0deaths, including the highest number of daily deaths since the start of the\u00a0pandemic<\/li>\n<li>The West Bank governorate of Nablus (17.7%) now accounts for the highest of all active cases in oPt, followed by Hebron (15.4%), Ramallah (12.3%), East Jerusalem (9.9%), Bethlehem (9.5%), Gaza Strip (9%),\u00a0Tulkarm\u00a0(5.9%) and Qalqilya (4.5%)<\/li>\n<li>The overall Case Fatality Rate (CFR) remains\u00a0at 1.1 %. The CFR is the proportion of deaths among identified confirmed cases<\/li>\n<li>Hospitals across the West Bank are being overwhelmed by the increase in patients being admitted with COVID-19. Prime Minister Mohamed\u00a0Shtayyeh\u00a0stated that most are at more than 100% capacity including intensive care wards<\/li>\n<li>Infections across oPt are being exacerbated by the spread of new variants, in particular the\u00a0variant\u00a0B.1.1.7\u00a0(identified in the UK)<\/li>\n<li>The WHO office\u00a0stands ready to\u00a0assist health authorities by\u00a0sending the\u00a0samples to\u00a0reference laboratories\u00a0for variant\u00a0testing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>COVID-19 Vaccine\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The first shipment of vaccines\u00a0due in\u00a0oPt under the global COVAX initiative, led\u00a0by Gavi, WHO, UNICEF and CEPI,\u00a0is expected to arrive\u00a0on\u00a0March 17 at Ben Gurion airport, and taken thereafter to central vaccine stores in Gaza and at Nablus\u00a0in West Bank. The shipment will contain\u00a0in total\u00a037,440 doses of Pfizer\u00a0vaccines: 25,740 will go to Nablus and 11,700 to\u00a0Gaza<\/li>\n<li>A shipment of 40,000 doses of Sputnik vaccines\u00a0are\u00a0due to arrive in Gaza in coming days, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE)<\/li>\n<li>The PA\u00a0MoH\u00a0stated that 100,000 doses of Sinopharm\u00a0vaccines from China\u00a0are due,\u00a0the batch is in process and\u00a0arrival\u00a0date to be\u00a0confirmed<\/li>\n<li>Palestinians can now start registering for vaccination through\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-auhhlkt-l-y\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/vaccine.moh.ps<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile,\u00a0Israel\u00a0began\u00a0on March 8 a two-week\u00a0programme\u00a0to vaccinate over 100,000 Palestinians who carry Israeli work permits, using its supply of Moderna vaccines to do\u00a0this<\/li>\n<li>Up till now,\u00a04,900 people have received their first doses in the West Bank, of whom 90% are health workers in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and Covid-19 designated\u00a0facilities<\/li>\n<li>In Gaza, a\u00a0total of\u00a04,746\u00a0frontline healthcare workers, including UNRWA health staff, have received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, in one of six assigned vaccination centres across the Gaza Strip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout two-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/i4.createsend1.com\/ei\/j\/97\/638\/F54\/022345\/csfinal\/Capture1-dc634902444f7ab.PNG\" alt=\"\" width=\"274\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><em>A new table of vaccination data has been included in the WHO Global Dashboard at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/who.createsend1.com\/t\/j-l-auhhlkt-l-j\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/covid19.who.int\/<\/a>.\u00a0These data are viewed by selecting \u201cVaccination\u201d from the dropdown panel on the left-hand side of the map. In collaboration with WHO Regional Offices, the data will be updated at least once weekly using official reports from Member States.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Laboratory testing and diagnostics\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The number of tests conducted in the oPt has increased by\u00a021%\u00a0during the reporting period (5\u00a0&#8211;\u00a011\u00a0March),\u00a0with\u00a046,949\u00a0tests conducted<\/li>\n<li>In the Gaza Strip, an average of 1,923\u00a0tests per day have been conducted over the past week (5 &#8211; 11 March) with a positivity rate of\u00a07%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Isolation and Case Management, Operations Support and Logistics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>As of March 10, the overall occupancy rate of COVID-19 dedicated hospital beds in the\u00a0Gaza Strip is 13%, with 71 of 540 beds occupied.
