Question<\/u>:\u00a0 And another question.\u00a0 I’ll give you two questions but\u2026 because you might want to link them together, one, the US saying it is going to start funding UNRWA [United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East] again and then a hint from the new US Ambassador\u2011designate in her confirmation hearing that they may well stop\u2026 restart funding to UNFPA [United Nations Population Fund].\u00a0 So, your reaction to those bits of news?<\/p>\n

Spokesman<\/u>:\u00a0 I mean, I watched part of the confirmation hearings.\u00a0 I mean, all of it, if confirmed, is, obviously, welcome news, and for us, going in the right direction.\u00a0 We know the impact that the cutting of US funding had on UNRWA, and we also know the impact it had on UNFPA.\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 If you have a question before we go to Mr.\u00a0Steiner, wave your hands up in the air, like Toby and then Erol.\u00a0 Go ahead, Toby.<\/p>\n

Question<\/u>:\u00a0 Hi, thanks, St\u00e9phane.\u00a0 I just want to follow up on James’ question about UNRWA.\u00a0 So, you’re still waiting for the US to reach out and confirm any actions related to UNRWA? \u00a0That’s my first question.<\/p>\n

Spokesman<\/u>:\u00a0 I’m sorry.\u00a0 I had too many things going on at once here.\u00a0 On UNRWA, I mean, we also heard very positive statements from the US representative in the Security Council.\u00a0 Yesterday, we heard what the Permanent Representative\u2011designate had to say.\u00a0 We’ll check with UNRWA if anything officially has happened, but, obviously, the messages that are in the air are indeed very positive.<\/p>\n
