monitoring<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The suspension of bilateral agreements\u00a0and coordination\u00a0in response\u00a0to Israel\u2019s threatened annexation of parts\u00a0of\u00a0the occupied West Bank\u00a0is\u00a0impacting\u00a0access to essential services outside for referral patients as well as import and customs clearance of essential medical equipment With thanks to UK aid.\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Surveillance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The WHO risk assessment\u00a0remains\u00a0very high\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).\u00a0With\u00a0the\u00a0easing\u00a0lockdown\u00a0and\u00a0restrictive\u00a0measures, there has been a significant increase in the number of\u00a0people\u00a0who\u00a0tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.\u00a0\u00a0In the past fortnight\u00a0873\u00a0(since 13 June) cases have been confirmed in\u00a0the\u00a0West Bank,\u00a0predominantly in\u00a0Hebron\u00a0(85%).\u00a0On\u00a023 June, oPt experienced the largest increase, with\u00a0194 confirmed cases in a single day in the West Bank<\/li>\n<li>The total number of cases in oPt is\u202f1,568, including\u00a01,496\u00a0cases in the West Bank and\u202f72\u202fin the Gaza\u00a0Strip. In the West Bank, most cases are\u00a0recorded from\u00a0Hebron (868),\u00a0East Jerusalem (206), Jerusalem\u00a0Governorate (153), followed by\u202fBethlehem (97), Ramallah (86) and Nablus (44).\u202fA total of 11 health workers are among those confirmed\u00a0cases<\/li>\n<li>To-date, the Ministry of Health (MoH) reported a total of 616 cases have recovered: 560 in West Bank (including 174 in East Jerusalem) and 56 in Gaza. Five people have died in the oPt: case fatality rate (CFR) is 0.32%<\/li>\n<li>About\u202ftwo-thirds (44.5%) of all confirmed cases are male (699\u202fcases) and about\u00a085% of all cases (1,033\u202fcases) are below the age of 50 years in the oPt, excluding East Jerusalem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Laboratory diagnostics\u00a0<\/strong>\u200b<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout two-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/i7.createsend1.com\/ei\/j\/79\/680\/CF6\/043202\/csfinal\/IMG_1191-990000079e028a3c.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload gnd-corner-image gnd-corner-image-center gnd-corner-image-top gnd-corner-image-bottom\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/i8.createsend1.com\/ei\/j\/79\/680\/CF6\/043202\/csfinal\/IMG_1221-92ccac1795d19849.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><em>WHO\u00a0delivered\u00a0five pallets\u00a0of essential medical supplies\u00a0including\u00a0126,000 surgical masks and 84,000 gloves\u00a0to protect frontline health workers that care for COVID-19 patients\u00a0in the Gaza Strip on June 24.\u00a0\u00a0Thanks to\u00a0the\u00a0generous financial\u00a0support of the\u00a0Government of Kuwait.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>A total of\u202f82,581\u00a0laboratory samples have been tested for COVID-19 according to the\u202fMoH, with\u00a012,393\u00a0samples tested in the Gaza Strip<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"layout one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Infection Prevention and Control (IPC),\u00a0Isolation\u00a0and Case Management, Operations Support and Logistics \u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5,679\u202f Palestinians are\u00a0in quarantine (home or facility-based) for monitoring of symptoms and ensuring\u00a0prevention\u00a0of further spread<\/li>\n<li>In Gaza,\u202f280\u202fpeople are in one of the\u00a0four\u202foperational quarantine facilities which include designated facilities,\u202fhotels\u00a0or other designated buildings<\/li>\n<li>WHO supported the\u00a0MoH\u00a0in conducting a workshop targeting 30 participants from the\u00a0primary\u00a0healthcare\u00a0directorate to discuss the current COVID-19\u00a0strategy\u00a0in the Gaza Strip,\u00a0in terms of epidemiology, clinical picture, case detection and management, and infection prevention and\u00a0control<\/li>\n<li>In the reporting period (from 12 \u2013 25 June), WHO has\u00a0procured\u00a0and delivered the following items to health authorities in the Gaza Strip (see images above and below):\n<ul>\n<li>Five pallets\u00a0of essential medical supplies including\u00a0126,000 surgical masks and 84,000 gloves\u00a0to protect front line health workers that care for COVID-19 patients. The delivery on 25 June\u00a0also\u00a0featured coveralls (suit),\u00a0N95\u00a0masks,\u00a0face shields, alcogel and\u00a0disinfectant, thanks to\u00a0the generous support of the\u00a0Government of Kuwait<\/li>\n<li>Three pallets of\u00a0essential medicines and supplies to\u00a0support case management and treatment. The medicines and supplies will be used in\u00a0dedicated COVID-19\u00a0facilities, known as\u00a0Respiratory\u00a0Triage\u00a0Centres, which\u00a0are\u00a0separated from nearby Emergency Departments of Gaza\u2019s five main hospitals to\u00a0ensure\u00a0containment\u00a0and\u00a0prevent further\u00a0spread\u00a0of the disease.\u00a0The delivery has been supported\u00a0by\u00a0UK aid as part of a USD $500,000 commitment to\u00a0support\u00a0the response to COVID-19 in the oPt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In continuation of their partnership to strengthen local\u00a0capacities\u00a0in responding to COVID-19, WHO supported MDM-France in conducting the following activities during reporting period:\n<ul>\n<li>On 21 June,\u00a0a\u00a0training was organised for 13 MoH\u00a0officials to strengthen\u00a0their knowledge on\u00a0operational policies of\u00a0respiratory triage center (RTC)<\/li>\n<li>On 22 and 23 June,\u00a060\u00a0participants from\u00a0MOH attended\u00a0practical training,\u00a0in Khan Younis governorate,\u00a0in preparation for\u00a0a\u00a0simulation exercise, which took place on 24 June at the RTC near Nasser Hospital, with the objective to boost the capacities at the\u00a0RTC\u00a0to deal with and manage COVID-19 suspected cases<\/li>\n<li>The activities aimed\u00a0to ensure implementation of safety measures and\u00a0infection prevention\u00a0and control precautions,\u00a0to ensure\u00a0correct patient pathways\u00a0and\u00a0adequate\u00a0case management, and to improve coordination and\u00a0documentation in respiratory triage one-col fixed-width stack\">\n<div class=\"layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>As of June\u00a025,\u202f2020\u202f(10:00\u202fam), the\u202fPalestinian Authority\u2019s Ministry of Health\u00a0reported\u00a0206\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0cases in East Jerusalem.\u00a0Two deaths have been reported\u00a0(CFR-\u00a00.97%)\u00a0and\u00a0174\u00a0recovered in the same period<\/li>\n<li>A substantial delivery of personal protective equipment and medical items was supplied on 17 June by the European Union and\u00a0WHO\u00a0to the East Jerusalem Hospitals Network (EJHN) to support preparedness for COVID-19.\u00a0\u00a0The delivery includes personal protective equipment and\u00a0disinfectant\u00a0items for all six of the network\u2019s hospitals.\u00a0\u00a0The needs of\u00a0the\u00a0EJHN were a priority in the United Nations Inter-agency COVID-19 Response Plan released in April 2020<\/li>\n<li>This EU contribution is part of an EU humanitarian aid grant that helps WHO scale up the\u00a0capacity\u00a0of Palestine\u2019s health system for testing, case management and infection,\u00a0prevention\u00a0and control in response to the COVID-19<\/li>\n<li><a COVID-19<\/li>\n<li>The agencies have released an emergency media pack, which provides key social media, radio and TV health messages for use in affected areas, where there are clusters of COVID-19 cases, such as Hebron<\/li>\n<li>WHO and UNICEF have distributed more than 80,000 brochures via partners in Hebron on home quarantine and preventative
