In the West Bank, most cases are from East Jerusalem (167), Jerusalem Governorate (140), followed by Ramallah (77), Bethlehem (59) and Hebron (41).\u00a0In the Gaza Strip, all confirmed cases are from Gaza City.\u00a0A total\u00a0of 11 health workers are among those confirmed\u00a0cases<\/li>\n<li>To-date, the Ministry of Health (MoH) reported a total of\u00a0103\u00a0cases have recovered:\u00a091\u00a0in West Bank, including 26\u00a0in East Jerusalem)\u00a0and 12\u00a0in Gaza\u00a0and four people have died in the oPt: case fatality rate\u00a0(CFR) is 0.76%<\/li>\n<li>About two-thirds (65%) of all confirmed cases are male (231\u00a0cases) and about 82% of all cases (290\u00a0cases) are below the age of 50 years in the oPt,\u00a0excluding East Jerusalem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>Laboratory diagnostics<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_layout x_one-col x_fixed-width x_stack\">\n<div class=\"x_layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"x_column\">\n<ul>\n<li>A total of 33,914\u00a0laboratory samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the oPt according to the\u00a0MoH<\/li>\n<li>In the Gaza Strip, health authorities are continuing to appeal for support to procure additional lab testing kits. Five confirmed cases remain in isolation at Rafah crossing field hospital<\/li>\n<li>More than\u00a01,963\u00a0people are in one of the 21 operational\u00a0quarantine\u00a0facilities which include designated primary health facilities, schools or hotels<\/li>\n<li>Despite the low number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Gaza Strip, WHO is encouraging people in Gaza to maintain the recommended measures to keep families safe from COVID-19 and to prevent its spread including physical distancing and personal hygiene measures<\/li>\n<li>Local health authorities have\u00a0announced some\u00a0preventive\u00a0occupational health and safety measures to be applied\u00a0by workers and the general public,\u00a0in\u00a0businesses, institutions\u00a0and\u00a0public\u00a0facilities,\u00a0such as\u00a0offices and\u00a0supermarkets\u00a0to ensure physical distancing and hand and respiratory hygiene measures.\u00a0These include maintaining physical distancing of at least 1.5\u00a0metres\u00a0between people,\u00a0mandatory access to\u00a0hand sanitizers\u00a0at\u00a0facility\u00a0entrances;\u00a0and regularly disinfecting\u00a0frequently-touched\u00a0services<\/li>\n<li>Local health authorities are urging citizens of the Gaza Strip to adhere to the instructions of infection prevention and control, and physical distancing.\u00a0Elderly, children, patients with respiratory diseases and people with weak immunity are all urged to avoid public places and crowded gatherings<\/li>\n<li>WHO and UNICEF continue to scale up procurement efforts to mobilize life-saving essential Intensive Care Unit and ventilator equipment through global supply\u00a0mechanisms.\u00a0\u202fMore essential supplies are on the way for West Bank and Gaza, with thanks to support from multiple donors including the oPt Humanitarian Fund\u00a0and UK aid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>East Jerusalem<\/strong>\u200b<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_layout x_one-col x_fixed-width x_stack\">\n<div class=\"x_layout__inner\">\n<div class=\"x_column\">\n<ul>\n<li>As of\u00a02 May\u00a02020 (17:30), the Palestinian Authority\u2019s Ministry of Health reported\u00a0167\u00a0COVID-19 cases in East Jerusalem with\u00a0four\u00a0new cases from\u00a0Anata, Beit-Hanina, Wad Al\u00a0Joz, and the Old City.\u00a0Two deaths have been reported\u00a0(CFR- 1.2%)\u00a0and\u00a026\u00a0recovered\u00a0in the same period<\/li>\n<li>COVID-19 patients from East Jerusalem continue to be managed by the East Jerusalem Hospital Network (EJHN) and Israeli Hospitals. There are currently six patients with COVID-19 (three at St Joseph Hospital, three in need for kidney dialysis at Hadassah Hospital) and eight confirmed health worker cases of COVID-19\u00a0from\u00a0the same hospital all under\u00a0quarantine<\/li>\n<li>Despite donor pledges, the EJHN hospitals are still in urgent need of medical supplies and equipment to be fully prepared to receive COVID-19 patients.
