{"id":233706,"date":"2020-03-08T15:00:47","date_gmt":"2020-03-08T19:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/?post_type=document&#038;p=233706"},"modified":"2020-03-12T18:12:33","modified_gmt":"2020-03-12T22:12:33","slug":"unops-and-japan-support-healthcare-services-at-al-makassed-hospital-in-east-jerusalem-press-release","status":"publish","type":"document","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/document\/unops-and-japan-support-healthcare-services-at-al-makassed-hospital-in-east-jerusalem-press-release\/","title":{"rendered":"UNOPS and Japan Support Healthcare Services at Al Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem &#8211; Press Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/UNOPSPR_080320.pdf\">Arabic: \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0631\u0628\u064a\u0629<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jerusalem, 08 March 2020<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the Government of Japan (GoJ) in Palestine agreed to join efforts on a project that aims to procure and deliver urgently needed essential drugs and medical consumables for Al Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem with the award of a new grant under Japan\u2019s supplementary budget.<\/p>\n<p>This project comes at a critical time when Al Makassed hospital, the main healthcare provider in East Jerusalem that receives patients from Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza; is facing a financial crisis and is currently unable to meet its operational costs and the urgent needs of its patients.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Masayuki Magoshi, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine said \u201cThe Government of Japan decided to extend the financial assistance to Al-Makassed Hospital due to the very important role that the hospital played as a main referral hospital which receives patients not only from Jerusalem and West Bank but also from Gaza\u201d.
