Global Situation Reports<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cases reported in oPt:\u00a00 Coronavirus disease 2020 (COVID-19) Update 3<\/strong><\/p>\n occupied Palestinian territory, March 3, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n Cases reported in oPt: 0 Cases reported in Eastern Mediterranean Region: 1692<\/p>\n (in 15 countries)<\/p>\n WHO Risk Assessment:<\/p>\n oPt: Very High Regional: Very High Global Level: Very High<\/p>\n *Information provided 3 March, 6 AM Central European Time<\/p>\n Global Map of Cases<\/p>\n Global Situation Reports<\/p>\n Situation in oPt and\u00a0Eastern\u00a0Mediterranean\u00a0Region:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1692\u00a0cases in Eastern Mediterranean Region:\u00a01501 cases in Iran (including 66\u00a0deaths),\u00a049\u00a0in Bahrain, 56 cases in\u00a0Kuwait,\u00a021\u00a0cases in\u00a0United Arab Emirates, 26\u00a0cases in Iraq,\u00a013\u00a0cases in\u00a0Lebanon, 6 cases in Oman, 5\u00a0cases in Pakistan,\u00a07 cases in Qatar, 2 cases in Egypt,\u00a02 cases in Morocco, 1 case in Afghanistan, 1 case in Tunisia, 1 case in Saudi Arabia and\u00a01 case in Jordan.\u00a0Israel has 12\u00a0cases confirmed<\/p>\n The risk\u00a0to\u00a0oPt\u00a0has been upgraded from high to very\u00a0high\u00a0due to\u00a0increasing\u00a0number of cases\u00a0being confirmed\u00a0in\u00a0neighbouring\u00a0countries, and the\u00a0number of affected countries over the\u00a0past\u00a0few days<\/p>\n Consolidated action and further resources will be needed to enhance preparedness efforts<\/p>\n The WHO\u00a0supports the\u00a0MOH to accelerate preparedness measures to ensure that:<\/p>\n WHO urges the public to obtain the latest information on COVID-19 from key sources such as MoH and WHO (see\u00a0Twitter<\/a>,\u00a0Facebook<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0oPt website<\/a>), and follow and promote the recommended basic preventive and protective measures (see links to official information below).<\/p>\n Latest Preparedness Activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n WHO\u00a0has continued\u00a0to support key stakeholders in preparedness for a potential outbreak of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in oPt\u00a0by:<\/p>\n Essential items delivered to manage any spread of COVID-19\u00a0\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n WHO delivered these essential items to the Ministry of Health (on 27\/2) to help protect health workers and to support detection and management capacity for potential COVID-19\u00a0spread:<\/p>\n How is the\u00a0West Bank\u00a0is\u00a0preparing for a potential COVID-19\u00a0outbreak?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n WHO\u00a0joined the Ministry of Health (MoH) and\u00a0visited health facilities in the West Bank (on 1\/3) to observe the level of preparedness at points of entry, quarantine and treatment facilities set up by the\u00a0MoH\u00a0in Jericho.<\/p>\n The\u00a0MoH\u00a0has implemented effective measures to ensure early detection and case management of any suspected COVID-19 case and similar efforts are made for Gaza.<\/p>\n Incoming passengers coming from\u00a0Jordan (via\u00a0King Hussein Bridge Crossing) are checked at Jericho Crossing Point medical facility (see\u00a0top image) so that appropriate medical and control measures can be taken.<\/p>\n Suspected COVID-19 infected travelers are transferred to isolation rooms next to Jericho hospital and in the military medical academy facility\u00a0(see second and third images), while test results are confirmed.
