Canada Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

November 21, 2012 – <\/strong>Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“Canada welcomes this ceasefire and hopes that terrorist cells based in Gaza will abide by the terms of this agreement.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“We are deeply concerned about the loss of innocent lives on both sides and hope this agreement will end the fear, violence and death of the past days.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“In my conversations with regional ambassadors and counterparts, I have reiterated Canada’s support for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism, which, in all its forms, must be wholly rejected by all peace-loving people around the world.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“Canada appreciates the concerted efforts taken by the Egyptian government, with the support of others, to mediate the ceasefire agreement.”<\/p><\/div>\n
