SECRETARY-GENERAL HOLDS TALKS WITH JORDAN’S KING HUSSEIN<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

AMMAN, 11 June – Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar this evening was received in audience by King Hussein of Jordan, with whom he reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East and the possibilities of initiating negotiations to achieve peace in the area.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Earlier in the day, Crown Prince Hassan, King Hussein's brother, met with the Secretary-General. They discussed the situation of the inhabitants of the West Bank of the Jordan River, and the Crown Prince explained Jordan's assessment of the situation on the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip.<\/p><\/div>\n

Following his talks with King Hussein, the Secretary-General was guest at a dinner given in his honour by the King.<\/p><\/div>\n
