SUBCOMMITTEE II ON PALESTINE QUESTION GETS TIME EXTENSION TO PREPARE REPORT<\/p><\/div>\n

Subcommittee II of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Palestinian Question today received an indefinite extension of time to prepare its report from Dr. H. V. Evatt, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Subcommittee Chairman, SIR MOHAMMED ZAFRULLAH KHAN, had asked an extension until the end of this week. The deadline for the reports of both Subcommittees had been set originally for tonight.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

This afternoon, Subcommittee II returned to its working groups, after having discussed and accepted the report on the working group of Jewish displaced persons this morning,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Still to be discussed and approved by the Subcommittee are its working groups' reports on (1) the legality of the Mandate and the competence of the United Nations to implement any decision it may reach, and (2) the proposals of Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Syria for an independent unitary state in Palestine.<\/p><\/div>\n
