Press Statement on the Southern Border of Lebanon<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Members of the Council heard a briefing by the Secretary-General on the disturbing events that took place at the southern border of Lebanon on Friday and Saturday.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Members of the Council expressed grave concern over the escalating tensions and acts of violence and asked all parties to exercise the utmost restraint.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Members of the Council welcomed the decision of the Secretary-General to dispatch his Special Envoy to the region and to approach the leaders of all States concerned to convey the deep concern of the Council and to urge immediate steps to ensure a restoration of calm.<\/p><\/div>\n
