southern Lebanon Calls For Halt to Violations<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>Beirut, 11 October 2001 (UN Information Centre)<\/strong> – On various occasion including in recent reports to the Security Council, the United Nations has drawn attention to air violations across the Blue Line by Israeli military aircraft.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In this connection, the Personal Representative of the Secretary-General for southern Lebanon.(PRSG) has noted with concern that 5 Israeli overflights took place across the Blue Line on 10 October.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Some booms were also heard over southern Lebanon.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Such violations of the Blue Line and Lebanese, airspace can potential1y aggravate an already tense situation.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The PRSG reiterates his call upon the Israeli authorities to cease these violations and fully respect the Blue Line.<\/p><\/div>\n
