My dear Bunche,<\/p><\/div>\n

I observe from the second paragraph on page 34 of the Commission’s Report to the Second Special Session of the General Assembly (<\/span>document No. A\/532<\/a> of the 10th April) that “the Commission has accepted in principle the invitation by the United Kingdom Government to appoint an observer to attend meetings of the Currency Board before the 15th May …..”<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

2. I don’t seem to have received any intimation from you that this invitation has been accepted and I should, therefore, be glad to know whether you can confirm this so that I may inform His Majesty’s Government accordingly.<\/p><\/div>\n

My dear Fletcher-Cooke,<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Pursuant to our recent telephone conversation en the subject, I wish to inform you formally that the Commission has agreed in principle to the suggestion of the Mandatory Power that the Commission appoint an observer to attend meetings of the Palestine Currency Board. The Commission, however, reserves its position regarding the future of the Currency Board after 15 May. In checking with Mr. Reedman on this matter, I discovered that he had assumed that it was understood by you that the Commission had reached this agreement, although it had not as yet decided on any appointment. I regret that there was apparently some misunderstanding on this point.<\/p><\/div>\n

Will you be so kind as to inform me when the next meeting of the Currency Board will be held in order that the Commission may designate an observer, whose name will be communicated to you in due course.<\/p><\/div>\n
