The following communication, concerning Postal Services in Palestine after 15 May, has been received from Mr. Fletcher-Cooke of the United Kingdom.<\/p><\/div>\n

My dear Bunches:<\/p><\/div>\n

May I refer you to my<\/span> letter of 13th February<\/a> and to your reply of 16th February on the subject of Postal Services in Palestine after 15th May.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

I now enclose a copy of a letter dated 25th February, sent by His Majesty’s Postmaster General to the Director of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union, Berne.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

May I take this opportunity of reminding you that I would be most grateful to receive an indication of the action taken by they Commission in this matter, to which reference was made in paragraph (d) of my letter of 1st March.<\/p><\/div>\n

I am directed, by the Postmaster General to say that the present Postal Administration in Palestine will cease to be responsible for the maintenance of postal services in that country after the 15th of May next, and has notified that it cannot undertake responsibility for mails reaching Palestine after the following dates:<\/p><\/div>\n

15th of March <\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

15th of April <\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\n\t\t\t\tfor parcel mails sent to Palestine in transit to countries beyond:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/td>\n

\n

Air Mails to and from Palestine will be dealt with up to the latest possible date or to the 15th of May; letter mails by surface route and parcel mails will be despatched frau Palestine up to as late a date as possible.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Palestine Administration also advises that while every will be made to complete the treatment of enquiries or claims relating to postal packets before the 15th of May, it is unlikely that any enquiries or claims which reach Palestine after the 29th of February can be completed by that date.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Money order services with Palestine will be discontinued after the 29<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> February, and it is understood that the Palestine Administration is notifying the Administration concerned to that effect.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Postal service to the British Forces in Palestine and to the Palestine Police Force maintained by the United Kingdom through the Base Army Post Office in Palestine will continue in operation as at present pending the withdrawal British Forces from that country.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

I am to thank you to be en good as to communicate the foregoing particulars to the Administrations of the Universal Postal Union by air mail.<\/p><\/div>\n
