At the request of the CHAIRMAN, Mr. BARCO (United States of America), Chairman of the General Committee, announced that, at its meeting on Friday, 10 March 1950, the General Committee had made a detailed examination of the procedure for the setting up of a Joint Committee and at a further meeting just concluded, had studied a draft report to the Commission, prepared by the Secretariat. At the latter meeting it had become clear that a second reading of the draft report was necessary and this would be undertaken by the General Committee without delay so that it might report to the next meeting of the Commission.<\/p><\/div>\n

On the proposal of the CHAIRMAN, the Commission decided<\/i> to hold its next meeting on 15 March 1950.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

In reply to the CHAIRMAN, the PRINCIPAL SECRETARY stated that the expected report from General Riley and the text of the modus vivendi<\/i> arrived at between Israel and Egypt on 24 February 1950 had not yet been received. General Riley had intimated that he had sent the documents in question to Lake Success.<\/p><\/div>\n

The CHAIRMAN observed that more than a fortnight had elapsed since the conclusion of the agreement concerned, and he moved that a telegram be despatched to United Nations Headquarters pointing out that lack of this information was placing the Commission in difficulties.<\/p><\/div>\n

It was so agreed<\/i>.<\/p><\/div>\n
