Estimates of Number of Arabs<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\nby the Technical Committee as a result of its investigations).<\/p><\/div>\n

The Technical Committee in its <\/span>general memorandum of 3 September<\/a> to the Commission stated:<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“2) The Commission might contact the Israeli Delegation and request that those persons who have remained in their villages and who are today separated from their farms by the Armistice line, should be allowed to cultivate their lands on the Israeli side of the line and harvest their crops.”<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Pursuant to the Commission’s request for details as to the number of such persons involved and the exact regions concerned, the Technical Committee submits the attached estimate of the Arabs involved, by region, which was prepared by the International Red Cross Committee (IRCC).<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Technical Committee advances those estimates with reservations as to their accuracy, but feels that they might serve as a basis for initiating discussions on the subject. In the absence of any other substantiating date, the Technical Committee has asked the UNRPR to cable the IRCC requesting that agency to check these figures and report the result as soon as possible.<\/p><\/div>\n
