“Dear Prime Minister," ("Dear Mr Speaker,)<\/p><\/div>\n

On behalf of the European Commission and on my own behalf, I wish to express my most sincere condolences on the demise of President Yasser Arafat. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Palestinians have lost a leader who symbolised their aspirations of a Palestinian state.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

I wish to offer my deepest sympathy to the family of President Arafat and to the Palestinian people.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The European Commission wishes to expresses its continued commitment to a resolution of the Middle East conflict. The Commission is working with the Palestinian Authority towards this goal and towards ensuring a peaceful and democratic transition in the days and weeks to come.<\/p><\/div>\n
