The first one was held at St. John Eye Hospital in East Jerusalem and the other was at Al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron. The ceremonies were also attended by the representatives of both hospitals and the governors as well. These two projects were funded by the Government of Japan through Japan&#39;s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">With a grant of USD 120,620, St. John Eye Hospital procured new surgical equipment and installed them in the newly constructed surgical room under the project for &quot;Expanding and Enhancing the Surgical Capacity of St. John Eye Hospital&quot;. This project enables around 2400 cataract patients to receive appropriate and advanced surgical treatment in St. John Eye Hospital without long-term.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Whereas the Patient Friend&#39;s Society in Hebron &quot;Al-Ahli Hospital&quot; utilized their grant of USD 104,492 to replace the overloaded old X-ray machine they had with a new modern digital one under the Japan-funded project for &quot;Replacing an X-Ray Machine in Al-Ahli Hospital&quot;. Hundreds of inpatients and outpatients will be benefitting from this project through getting better diagnosis and improved health services.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Mr. Matsuura in his speech emphasized Japan&#39;s firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance exceeding $1.5 billion, to the Palestinians.
