AND OTHER PALESTINIANS IN GAZA<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Mr. Alpha Oumar Konar\u00e9, firmly condemns the killing of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and other Palestinians by Israeli air strikes in Gaza on Monday, 22 March 2004, in violation of international law.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n

While reiterating the commitment of the African Union to a peaceful, just and lasting solution to the conflict, the Chairperson is concerned that such killings only help to incite more violence and seriously undermine the prospects for dialogue and peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n

In this regard, the Chairperson appeals to the international Community to shoulder all its responsibility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
