On the recent developments of the Middle East Peace (Visit of Ambassador Mr. Yutaka Iimura, the Representative of the Government of Japan, to Israel and Palestine)<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1.<\/strong> Given the recent developments of the Middle East Peace, the Government of Japan takes the following position.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t(1)<\/strong> The peace negotiations stand at a crucial juncture and both concerned parties should seriously participate in the negotiations mediated by the United States of America, and exercise maximum restraint from taking unilateral actions that may affect the negotiations negatively.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t(2)<\/strong> Both parties need to show flexibility with regard to the fundamental issues of the negotiations toward a “two-state solution” and make further efforts to bridge the gaps. The door to an agreement of the final status between Israel and Palestine will not be kept open indefinitely.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t2.<\/strong> Based on the above position, the Government of Japan dispatched Ambassador Mr. Yutaka Iimura, Representative of the Government of Japan to Israel and Palestine from 14 to 15 April, 2014. During his meetings with Mr. Yitzhak Molcho, Adviser to the Prime Minister of the State of Israel and H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine, Mr. Iimura conveyed Japan’s position and encouraged them to continue the peace negotiations persistently.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
