style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">&#8230; Meanwhile, at Germany&#8217;s initiative, this week, the Security Council had enhanced relations between the United Nations and the League of Arab States &#8212; an acknowledgment of its constitutional and positive role.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, Germany remained very concerned about the still unresolved dispute about Iran&#8217;s nuclear programme.&nbsp;&nbsp;In that regard, the &#8220;EU3+3&#8221; group of States had put forward proposals for a substantive negotiation process, and awaited a &#8220;serious response&#8221; from Iran.&nbsp;&nbsp;Israel&#8217;s security was at stake, as was stability in the whole region.&nbsp;&nbsp;He called on Iran to &#8220;stop playing for time&#8221;, as the situation was serious.&nbsp;&nbsp;At the same time, he added, those challenges must not lead to losing sight of the necessity of a negotiated peace between Israel and the Palestinians.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Concerning the question of Palestine, he urged mobilization of international support for the Palestinian National Authority&#8217;s efforts to secure enhanced non-Member State status at the United Nations.&nbsp;&nbsp;Negotiations were the best way for the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate national rights and set up an independent, fully viable and geographically contiguous State, living alongside Israel in peace and security, he continued, asking the international community to reconsider its intervention mechanisms and methods so that direct negotiations could resume immediately and under the best circumstances.&nbsp;&nbsp;As President of the Al-Quds Committee, he condemned the &#8220;Israeli scheme for the Judaization of occupied East Jerusalem, as well as the designs to wipe out the city&#8217;s spiritual and cultural identity and to change its demographic and urban features&#8221;.&nbsp;&nbsp;There would be no peace without East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian State, he warned.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, Palestinian Authority enhanced non-Member State status.&nbsp;&nbsp;There was no alternative to serious negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian sides for a comprehensive settlement, he said, and the texts of the Arab Peace Initiative aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace to the conflict.&nbsp;&nbsp;&#8220; Israel is the side that should bear full responsibility for the stagnation endured by the peace process,&#8221;
