During 2012, the Jahalin children have participated in photography, video-making, storytelling and creative writing workshops on preserving their culture and heritage as part of a <strong>European Union <\/strong>funded project made possible through the work of <strong>Vento di Terra NGO<\/strong>, the <strong>Palestinian National Theater <\/strong>and <strong>Tamer Institute<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4.5px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Today the children had the opportunity to present to the public a book they produced entitled &#8220;Folktales from the Jahalin tents&#8221; &#8221; which is a collection of traditional Bedouin fairytales. Salha, a 14-year-old Bedouin girl from the Wadi Abu Hindi School read out her story which received the special mention at the H.C. Andersen Fairy-tale Bay Literary Award this year. The documentary &quot;Let me film&quot; &#8211; produced by the children &#8211; was screened for the first time and the public also had the opportunity to see a photo exhibition documenting the process of the Jahalin children and youth learning about their traditions and customs.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4.5px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">&#8220;Tamer Institute believes that as much as children will have space to tell their stories, they would inevitably find the words to change their future and destiny. This successful project is the sign that even the Bedouin children deserve this space to image and believe in a better future&#8221; said Ruba.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4.5px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The living conditions of these Bedouin communities located in Area C of the West Bank are particularly hard: their camps are isolated, far from hospitals and schools and deprived of basic services like water and electricity supplies. These communities live in the West Bank as a double minority in a stateless land.
