1.\t<\/span><\/span>Japan welcomes that a dialogue between the Israeli and the Palestinian leaders took place on February 8, 2005 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, with the presence of the Egyptian and the Jordanian leaders and that constructive achievements including the announcement of mutual cessation of violence came out of the meeting. Japan appreciates the active roles of Egypt, who hosted this summit meeting, and of Jordan, who participated in it, for the promotion of peace in the Middle East.
\n<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

2.\t<\/span><\/span>This summit meeting is an important achievement for the resumption and the advancement of the peace process. Japan strongly supports the strenuous peace efforts of both Mr. Sharon, the Prime Minister of Israel, and Mr. Abbas, Ra'ees (President) of the Palestinian Authority, under their difficult circumstances. Japan expects that this summit meeting will further accelerate the respective peace efforts of the Israelis and the Palestinians in accordance with the "Road Map".
\n<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

3.\t<\/span><\/span>Japan, in response to the expectation of the parties concerned, will seek its further involvement in the issue of the peace in the Middle East and is ready to play an active role for its resolution through the political dialogues with the parties concerned and the extension of economic assistance to the Palestinians. I expressed this policy in the meetings with the Israeli and the Palestinian leaders during my last visit to the region in January.<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
