A suicide bomber set off an explosive device in the central part of Tel Aviv on the night of February 25-26. As a result of this terrorist act – the first since the Israeli-Palestinian cease-fire agreement reached in Sharm El Sheikh – five people died and more than 65 were injured. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Expressing its heart-felt sympathy to the relatives and friends of the dead and injured, Moscow strongly condemns the crime of terrorists and calls upon the Palestinian leadership to take all the necessary measures to put a stop to the actions of extremists. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The main thing now is not to let the opponents of peaceful settlement trample on the first shoots of hope for a better future for the Palestinians and Israelis. As never before, it is important to ensure the consistent implementation of all the agreements that were reached at Sharm El Sheikh and to make full use of the Palestinian-Israeli anti-crisis mechanisms for the coordination of security actions. It is necessary to continue the negotiating contacts, aimed at a full-fledged launching of settlement on the basis of the Road Map with the ultimate aim of ensuring the coexistence of two states, Israel and Palestine, in peace and security. <\/p><\/div>\n

Russia as an active participant of the Quartet of international mediators is ready to do everything necessary for establishing an enduring and just peace in the Middle East and will use for this purpose all the available possibilities, including the upcoming international PNA assistance meeting and Quartet ministerial in London. <\/p><\/div>\n
