The OIC secretary-general welcomes the meeting between president Mahmoud Abbas and the head of the political bureau of Hamas<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, welcomed the meeting held yesterday in Damascus between the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Khalid Michal, Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS). He considered that the convening of this meeting and the ensuing rejection and prohibition of internecine fighting as well as the determination to move forward in the national dialogue and the efforts to form a national government constitutes a significant development toward putting an end to tension which has recently swept the Palestinian scene. Prof. Ihsanoglu also emphasized his willingness and determination to pursue the efforts he started to achieve national Palestinian reconciliation.<\/p><\/div>\n
