Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood condemns the recent issuing of the death sentence in Gaza<\/strong> <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Mr Ellwood said:<\/p><\/div>\n

"I condemn the death sentence issued in Gaza on 17 August. This decision reflects a concerning trend of increasing use of the death penalty in Gaza since the start of this year.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

It is the long-standing position of the UK to oppose the death penalty in all circumstances. We have repeatedly called for the de-facto authorities in Gaza to respect the Palestinian Authority’s moratorium on implementation of the death penalty.<\/p><\/div>\n
