Minister for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini expressed deep concern for the worsening situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip. “The repeated rocket strikes on Israel warrant the firmest possible condemnation; all attacks on civilian areas must stop immediately”, the minister asserted.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

“It is of utmost importance to avoid triggering an irreversible spiral that could potentially further destabilise a region already battered by numerous conflicts”, she continued, expressing her “deep sorrow” also for the death of so many civilians, amongst whom several children in Gaza, and saying that “it is now critical to protect civilians, restore calm and resume the peace process”.<\/p><\/div>\n
