Reports before the Committee have been summarized in press release <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/News\/Press\/docs\/2006\/gaspd349.doc.htm\" style=\"color:#0000ff;text-align:left;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">GA\/SPD\/349<\/a><span style=\"color:#000000;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">&nbsp;of 16 October.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:9px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">YUSSEF F. KANAAN, Permanent Observer Mission of <u>Palestine<\/u>, aligning himself with the statement of the Group of 77 and China, commended the Department&#8217;s communication strategy, through which it successfully drew the world&#8217;s attention to such events as the establishment of the Human Right Council and the Peacebuilding Commission.&#160; As the United Nations had a responsibility regarding the question of Palestine until it was resolved, the special information programme on Palestine was particularly important.&#160; It expanded worldwide awareness of the issue and had contributed to development of dialogue and peace.&#160; He also welcomed that Fourteenth International Media Seminar on Peace in the Middle East, held in Moscow.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">He paid tribute to the Department for its continued assistance to the training of Palestinian journalists, who could participate in the coverage of United Nations activities, despite Israeli attempts to prevent that.&#160; He condemned Israel for non-compliance with an Assembly resolution regarding the organization of fact-finding missions to the Occupied Territories, including East Jerusalem.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:9pt;font-family:Arial, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The Department should accord the issue of dialogue between civilizations greater importance as, unfortunately, some western media had insulted Islam, he said.&#160;
