France  is concerned about decisions taken by the Israeli authorities on July 22 and 29 paving the way for the construction of several hundred new housing units in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

As I reminded the European Union foreign ministers on July 20, settlements are illegal in the eyes of international law. The Israeli authorities must bring an end to the settlements, which fuel tensions on the ground and seriously undermine the viability of the two-State solution.<\/p><\/div>\n
