Australia will contribute $500,000 in humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, the Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mrs Chris Gallus, announced today. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'The Australian Government will provide humanitarian relief to Palestinians in Rafah through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA),' Mrs Gallus said. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'Our contribution to the UNRWA's Rafah Emergency Appeal will help supply shelter and medical assistance to the most vulnerable Palestinian communities. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'Australia has contributed more than $11 million in humanitarian aid for the Palestinian territories and refugees in 2003- 04. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'We also increased annual funding for international humanitarian, emergency and refugee programs by $13 million to $146 million in last month's budget,' Mrs Gallus said. <\/p><\/div>\n
