WFP supports over 650,000 of the most vulnerable and food-insecure non-refugee population in the West Bank and Gaza who have been affected by a steady decline of living standards. WFP has implemented emergency and protracted relief and recovery operations to assist the destitute, protect livelihoods, and support productive activities. WFP has been present in occupied Palestinian territory since 1991.<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

• Pipeline breaks for all commodity groups are anticipated in mid-2009. In case no additional resources are confirmed, WFP will be forced to reduce the number of beneficiaries and activities.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

• The prices of wheat flour and fuel have increased by 98 percent and 91 percent, respectively, in the past year. Households in Gaza now spend 70 percent of their income on food (compared to 36 percent just over a year ago).<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

• Donor support has so far enabled WFP to assist 188,000 of the most destitute beneficiaries.<\/p><\/div>\n
