Japan Solves the Water Shortage Problem in
\nQaffin City Through its Grassroots Assistance<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Today, on 2<\/span>nd<\/sup><\/span> December, 2013, the signing ceremony was held in the Representative Office of Japan to the PA in Ramallah for the project for "Replacement of the Water Network in Qaffin City". The contract was signed by Mr. Junya Matsuura, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and the Representative of Japan to the PA and Mr. Wa'el Hrashe, Mayor of Qaffin City. This project is funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

A grant of US $ 121,530 is extended for Qaffin Municipality to replace 4 kms of Qaffin old and plastic water pipes into underground network, solving the water shortage problem in more than 500 households located in 5 different areas in Qaffm city. After implementing this project, all residents will enjoy safe tap water with enough supply for their demands.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mr. Matsuura in his speech emphasized Japan's firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.<\/p><\/div>\n

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance exceeding $1.34 billion, to the Palestinians.
