UNICEF and the Government of Japan sign an agreement for the<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

health benefit of 114,000 Palestinian infants<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Jerusalem, 7 August 2007. Today, the Government of Japan and UNICEF signed an exchange note for the health benefit of 114, 000 Palestinian infants for the amount of approximately 1.1 million USD.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Yoshinori Katoria, and UNICEF–oPt Special Representative, Patricia Mc Phillips, signed the exchange note today with the participation and support of the Minister of Health, Dr. Fathi Abu Moghli, and other senior officials.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

This intervention will contribute to the control of childhood infectious diseases and will sustain the high routine immunization coverage for all Palestinian children. This support is also vital for the progress towards attaining the Millennium Development Goals, mainly MDG four, which aims at reducing child mortality.<\/p><\/div>\n

The exchange note covers the following activities:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

• <\/span>Essential vaccines for approximately 114,000 children aged between 0 and 1 year;<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

• <\/span>Provision of key vaccine related supplies;<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n
