Completion<\/strong> of a Project for Enhancing the Communal Support
\n for People with Disabilities in the Northern Area of the West Bank, Funded by Japan<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Today, August 4, 2016, Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, visited Beit Fourik village in Nablus Governorate to celebrate the completion of a project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

The grant of US $93,613 extended to The East Jerusalem Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) was utilized for the installation of facilities catered to people with disabilities (PWDs) in 14 public institutions (9 schools, 3 educational directorates and 2 local health centers) in 4 governorates of the Northern West Bank. Moreover, awareness workshops were held for school teachers, directorate and health center staffs, families and PWDs themselves to raise awareness about the rights of people with disabilities and promote the sustainable communal movement to better integrate them in society.<\/p><\/div>\n

In his speech, Mr. Okubo emphasized on Japan's firm commitment to enhancing the human security of Palestinians as well as on implementing the socioeconomic developmental projects that will lead to the empowerment of the Palestinian communities.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.7 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010. (END)<\/p><\/div>\n
