The Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural) met today to hear the introduction of several draft resolutions on the right of peoples to self-determination, human rights questions, and the human rights situations and reports of special rapporteurs and representatives.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\tIntroduction of Draft Resolutions<\/u>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

Introducing two draft resolutions, the representative of <\/span>Egypt<\/u><\/span> first presented <\/span>The right of the Palestinian peoples to self-determination<\/u><\/span> (document <\/span>A\/C.3\/67\/L.54<\/a>), saying that for over six decades the Palestinian people had been suffering under Israeli occupation.  The draft was essentially the same as the one as last year, except for technical updates.  The support by the international community would surely contribute to the right of the Palestinian peoples to self-determination of their own land, with East Jerusalem as their capital.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
