{"id":200407,"date":"2011-06-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T17:58:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/?p=200407"},"modified":"2019-03-12T17:58:36","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T17:58:36","slug":"auto-insert-200407","status":"publish","type":"document","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/unispal\/document\/auto-insert-200407\/","title":{"rendered":"West Bank festival organized to celebrate education achievements &#8211; UNRWA press release"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\n<hr height=\"7px\" \/>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:11px;font-size:11pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;color:#00a1e0;padding-bottom:5.5px;text-align:center;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><strong>Saturday Fun Days Conclude in Balata School Festival<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:4.5px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;color:#000000;padding-bottom:4.5px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">West Bank &#8212; UNRWA schools in the northern West Bank organised a festival in Balata Basic School for Girls today to celebrate the achievements of the Saturday days for learning scheme, part of the UNRWA&#8217;s efforts to improve educational standards.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4.5px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Muhanned Beidas, UNRWA&#8217;s chief of education in the West Bank, highlighted the achievements reached so far, almost two years after the launch of the education recovery plan: &#8220;Extracurricular activities and remedial education have enhanced greatly the learning process among children, who all want to join in the fun and come to school to learn and play.&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4.5px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">During the festival, children danced, sang, and presented their handmade products in a special exhibition. The exhibition included various schools from the northern areas.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-bottom:4.5px;font-size:9pt;font-family:Verdana, san-serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The education programme is one of the largest UNRWA programmes in the West Bank, targeting 97 schools and almost 56,000 students.
