RCS to rush medical and food aid to Somalia and Palestine<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\nThe UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) will dispatch urgent medical supplies to Somalia and food assistance to the Palestinian territories, the RCS Chairman Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi has announced. <\/p><\/div>\n

Al Suweidi said that the charity organisation would intensify its relief operations in the flash points to ease suffering of population there. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

He indicated that the RCA's relief and development committee has decided in its recent meeting to rush more assistance to the affected population in the disaster and conflict-stricken areas in Somalia, Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

'The RCS will send 20 tonnes of medicines to Somalia to improve the health situation and provide health care to thousands of refugees who fled the fight in capital Mogadishu,' he said. <\/p><\/div>\n

He warned that the mass exodus from Mogadishu to neighbouring regions had created a disastrous situation. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

On the Palestinian front, he said that Dh 860,000 had been earmarked to carry out an urgent food aid. 'Food parcels will be distributed to Palestinian families as part of effort to support the living conditions,' he added. The RCS, he added, would support international efforts to relieve 800,000 people in Guinea who were displaced by the war. The committee heard reports on the humanitarian situations in a number of countries. <\/p><\/div>\n
