Local EU Statement on the announcement of local elections<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

The EU missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah welcome the PA Cabinet's decision to hold local elections in West Bank and Gaza on 20 October, 2012. Regular elections on all levels are a cornerstone for a future Palestinian State based on democratic values, respect for human rights and the rule of law. In this regard, the EU deplores the suspension of the Central Elections Commission's work to update the voters' registry in Gaza.<\/p><\/div>\n
