GRIFFIS APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

UN RELIEF FOR PALESTINE REFUGEES<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The UN Secretary-General Trygve Lie tonight announced the appointment of Stanton Griffis as Director of the United Nations Relief for Palestine Refugees.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Mr. Griffis is the present United States Ambassador to Egypt.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>He is being placed on leave by his Government so that he can take up his duties immediately.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Mr. Griffis has appointed Dr. Bayard Dodge to act as adviser.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Dr. Dodge for 25 years was President of the American University of Beirut.<\/p><\/div>\n
