UN PALESTINE COMMISSION ANNOUNCES READINESS<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

TO HEAR SPOKESMEN OF ARAB HIGHER COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

(The following was received at UN Headquarters from the Press Officer<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

with the United Nations Palestine Conciliation Commission, Jerusalem.)<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>In reply to the request from Ameen Husseini, President of the Arab Higher Committee, for participation "in all discussions relative to the Palestine case,"  the United Nations Palestine Conciliation Commission announced March 7 that it was prepared to hear the views of the Arab Higher Committee or of any other group desiring to cooperate with the Commission.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Commission declared in that connection that representatives of the Arab Higher Committee could be heard at the Commission's Headquarters at Jerusalem or during the proposed meeting of Arab Governments at Beirut.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>March 24 will be reserved in Beirut for the presentation of the views of any non-governmental bodies wishing to appear before the Commission.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The following is the full text of the reply of the Commission to Ameen Husseini:<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>"In reply to your communication of 5 March I take pleasure in informing you that it is established policy of the Commission to accept cooperation of any group desiring to assist in the implementation of the Assembly Resolution of 11 December 1948.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>"In pursuance of that policy the Commission will welcome spokesmen of the Arab Higher Committee at the Commission's Headquarters in the Arab sector of Jerusalem at any time prior to the proposed Beirut meeting of Arab Governments, or otherwise in Beirut on 24 March, which day will be reserved for the presentation of view of non-governmental bodies having submitted to the Commission a request to that effect.  The Commission will be pleased to hear from you at your earliest convenience as to which of these arrangements would be more suitable to the Arab Higher Committee.<\/p><\/div>\n
