Swedish election observers to Palestinian parliamentary elections<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Palestinian parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on 25 January 2006. The EU will send a team of election observers to monitor the elections. The Government has decided to place ten Swedish election observers at the disposal of the EU team. At the same time, a Swedish statistical expert will be part of the team's command group.<\/p><\/div>\n

"The parliamentary elections are very important for strengthening the legitimacy of the Palestinian National Authority and for creating better conditions for resuming the peace process," says Carin Jämtin, Minister for International Development Cooperation.<\/p><\/div>\n
