Grant Signing Ceremony for Two GGP Projects in Palestine Funded by Japan<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Grant Contracts for two Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) <\/strong>were signed today by Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to the PA, and representatives from Beita and Burqeen Municipalities at the Representative Office of Japan in Ramallah for a total amount of US$ 181,162.<\/p><\/div>\n

Beita Municipality received a grant of US$ 90,576 that they will use to reconstruct the old and damaged school building that consists of 3 classrooms in Beita Mixed School to provide safe and adequate educational environment for around 80 students.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The US$ 90,586 granted for Burqeen Municipality will be used to ensure safe electrical supply for the residents in Burqeen by replacing 4,500m of the old naked wires and damaged electrical poles. The direct beneficiaries are estimated to total 610 households (3,050 residents).<\/p><\/div>\n

In his speech, Mr. Okubo emphasized on Japan's firm commitment to enhancing the human security of Palestinians as well as on implementing the socioeconomic developmental projects that will lead to the empowerment of the Palestinian communities.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.6 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010.<\/p><\/div>\n
