Gaza children go back to school with UNICEF bags<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\nNEW YORK, 28 October 2004 –<\/strong> UNICEF has distributed more than 40,000 school bags to children in the Northern Gaza Strip. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The 500 students at the Rawdet Tal Zaatar Kindergarten <\/span>whose school was severely damaged<\/u><\/a> during a recent military incursion by Israeli armed forces were among the first students to receive the UNICEF school bags. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

"The school bags are a token of support that give a sense of normalcy in the lives of children, a sense of no matter the circumstance, education must continue" said the UNICEF Representative for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Dan Rohrmann. "Children's right to education must be upheld." <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Aside from providing bags, UNICEF is helping children to continue their studies during the conflict by providing counselling as well as supplementary educational materials. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n
