Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), made today the following comments following the Israeli raids into the al-Bureij and Nusseirat refugee camps in the Gaza strip, on Sunday (7 March, 2004): <\/p><\/div>\n

"I was distressed at the news that the raids carried out yesterday morning by the Israeli army in theGaza strip resulted in a number of killings, including of innocent children, as well as in many people wounded. I am concerned that too often strikes directed against radical Palestinian elements end up fuelling more pain hate and frustration among ordinary Palestinians. <\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

It is important to bring to an end this spiral of violence, to allow dialogue to resume. Both sides have the responsibility to make this happen<\/i><\/span>." <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
