Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), spoke today to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to personally congratulate him on the positive outcome of yesterday's meeting with Israel's Prime Minister Ariel SHARON (Sharm el-Sheik Summit on 8 February).<\/p><\/div>\n

The High Representative assured President Abbas of the European Union's full support for his efforts to re-engage in dialogue with Israel and encouraged him to continue to work towards a negotiated solution.<\/p><\/div>\n

Javier Solana expressed his satisfaction with President Abbas's determination to make all the necessary efforts to ensure an and to violence, and with each side's willingness to work together and to uphold their respective commitments undertaken yesterday in Egypt.<\/p><\/div>\n
